Founding Operations Theta · San Francisco, CA · On-site (6 days/week) · $140K–$180K + competitive equity About Theta Theta designs reinforcement learning environments for frontier AI models, serving both top AI labs and enterprises. We translate real-world workspaces into simulation environments that train expert-level agents to deeply understand your work. We raised $4.2M in July and have since grown to seven figures in annualized revenue with a team of six. We're working directly with frontier AI labs on the infrastructure powering the next generation of AI training. The Role We're hiring our Founding Operations team member to own customer contracts end-to-end and help us scale through a period of heavy contract volume. You'll work closely with the founders and eventually lead a growing operations team. This is a true founding role: scrappy, high-ownership, and high-leverage. You'll touch every part of how we deliver work to customers, from sourcing experts to shaping the platform our experts work on. What You'll Do
Own customer contracts end-to-end, from kickoff through delivery Recruit, vet, and manage domain experts across specialized fields Communicate directly with top AI labs on large-scale projects Help design the marketplace and workforce platform alongside our engineering team Drive the integration of expert data into RL environments, including work on reward models and rubrics from an operations lens Grow into an early leader who manages and hires other operators as the team scales
Who You Are You're a hustler. You move fast, you're not afraid to get your hands dirty, and you have that "get-it-done" intangible we can't fully put on paper. You thrive in high-intensity environments and you're excited by the idea of building something from the ground up. Experience (one of the following):
1–4 years at a high-intensity early-stage startup (seed to Series B) in Ops, Strategy, or Chief of Staff roles Investment banking background, ideally with exposure to tech (e.g., TMT) Top-tier consulting (MBB) Junior VC (analyst-level)
You should also have:
Demonstrated comfort and friendliness with technology A track record of high performance in demanding environments Strong written and verbal communication Genuine interest in startups (not just curious about what they're like)
Education: Top 100 university preferred, but exceptional experience can outweigh school. Who You're Not To save us both time, this role probably isn't right for you if:
Your background is primarily finance or accounting at a startup (FP&A, etc.) You haven't seriously engaged with the startup world before You're looking for a 9-to-5 or remote/hybrid setup You want a narrowly scoped, specialized role
Logistics
Location: San Francisco, in-person, 6 days a week Compensation: $140K–$180K base + competitive equity (flexibility for exceptional candidates) Visa sponsorship: Not available, but we can support transfers
